We went camping a few weekends ago at Beverly Beach State Park, on the Oregon coast. It was a bit of a cold weekend, but we lucked out in the rain department, as it didn’t rain on us until the very end. It was quite an adventure taking the two little ones with us, especially now that Autumn is so mobile and wanted to explore everything. She’s also going through separation anxiety, so she and I were pretty much attached the entire time. It was a lot of fun, though, and we were glad to be able to spend some time with family on the beach.

We had a total of 4 campsites all close together

IMG_3308On Saturday morning we woke up bright and early to a symphony of birds and squirrels greeting us good morning. Luca enjoyed a nice cup of hot chocolate with his breakfast by the fire.

IMG_5041IMG_5028 Autumn decided to try out Luca’s bike while he wasn’t looking

IMG_5023 One of the best things we did was lay out a big play area for the kids to spread out on

IMG_3320 All I have to say is thank goodness for Thomas the train and friends, who kept Luca occupied while we cleaned up and got ready for the day

IMG_3321IMG_5046 Then, with kites and frisbee in tow and the baby asleep in the Ergo, we headed out to the beautiful beach

IMG_5051Luca was ready to get the sillies out, and got straight into running several laps in the wide, open space

IMG_5061IMG_3352 Meanwhile the boys got straight into a game of frisbee

Time to walk

Let’s go Mama

This way Mama!

Ok race me!

Then my siblings and I had to recreate one of our favorite pictures from several years ago, on a beach in Southern California.

Here’s the California version, circa 2006:

Here’s the Oregon version:

Auntie Kimmy and Uncle Kyan had a few more sillies to get out before we were done

Ok, time to wind down and dig in the sand for a bit

It may not be a Hawaiian beach, but it’s equally lovely with our little ohana

A cute boy in a hole in a knoll

Alright, back to the campsite for some rest. Autumn and Luca settle down with some books.

Meanwhile the aunties and uncles play a few rounds of corn hole

Autumn takes Luca’s bike out for one more go. I brought a bike for her too, but of course she wasn’t interested in it.

Grandpa and Grandma roughing it with their cell phones

Thanks for a great camping trip, family!

Day at the Coast

A few weekends ago we decided on the spur of the moment take a day trip to the coast. So we packed up the car and headed out to Seaside.

First stop, carousel!

Uh oh, someone REALLY didn't want to get off the carousel.

OK, one more ride. We won't show you how upset he was after this ride. Let's just say we walked out of there as fast as we could.

Luca and Daddy are inspired by Lewis and Clark to forge their own path.

Cute boy on the beach.

I love the beach!

Beach face

Brushing off that pesky sand.

Time for a water break.

Ending the day on a good note.
